Today on The Panda’s Thumb blog I learned about a new book – written in 1907. One glance at the title and I knew I’d like it and find it useful:
How to Tell the Birds from the Flowers: A Manual of Flornithology
Written by Robert William Wood, an eminent physicist who also wrote the almost certainly more boring, Physical Optics.
Here’s how he makes it easier, when you’re peering through your binoculars (optics, see?) into a tree, to tell a flower from a bird:
